The training started with a presentation of the distinctions and connections between radicalism and ideology and the role of municipal members in acknowledging the signs and addressing the issues arising from the deviations of both factors into acts of violence. The expert discussed the geopolitical context to give a background of the impact that recent developments might have had in infiltrating radical ideologies among Kosovar society. It went on explaining the sociological – risk and protective factors- that we should account for, among them, our culture- as the main counter-narrative and system of belief that calls on tolerance for the diversity of thought and beliefs. The Police representative gave a detailed description of the signs and outcomes of radicalized individuals, the role of social media in this process, the mechanisms in place for preventing and treating the affected individuals, and the role and mechanisms that assembly members can use to inform community and address this issue.
