Training “The forms of violent extremism and reporting from terrorism cases”

BIRN in the framework of the Project “Participating Democracy for a Kosovo without Radicalism” has organized training with the topic "The forms of violent extremism and reporting from terrorism cases”. The training was held with students of law at the University “Kadri Zeka” on December 7 in Gjilan, Kosovo. Speakers at these trainings were Fikrije Fejzullahu, Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution and Kreshnik Gashi, author of Justice in Kosovo. The purpose of this training was to give students the best knowledge of the forms of fighting violent extremism that lead to terrorism in Kosovo and at the same time the ways of reporting these cases. The training aimed to give students the opportunity to discuss the current involvement of youth in terrorism and radical and terrorist groups, as well as, to receive instructions on how to prevent cases of terrorism.

Present in this training were about 50 students from the field of justice. The students had the opportunity to receive additional information from Special Prosecution Prosecutor Fikrije Fejzullahu who deals specifically with investigating such cases and finding ways of preventing these phenomens. Where during the training the prosecution told about special cases of terrorism trials, the way the justice system intervened and the way in which you are accused of being accused. Also with Kreshnik Gashi, journalist and author of “Justice in Kosovo”;, who spoke more about the way of reporting cases of violent extremism that leads to terrorism, the media's influence on reporting and interpreting news that have occurred and the approach that should be required for reporting on a particular case. Also, the presentation of cases that happened earlier and how they were reported by the media. Students also had the opportunity during the training to ask questions and discuss specific cases as well as what are the possibilities to prevent these cases. During the training a debate was held between students and speakers about concrete cases and their impact on society. The questions asked by the students were mainly focused on the cases they wanted to know about how they ended up, and how the prosecution starts investigating cases. There were also questions about the continuation of the cases.

The students were also interested to know about the treatment that these accused will face after serving the sentence.
