On 29th of January, 2020, SPRC concluded a successful Training for Municipal Assembly Members of Mamusha Municipality, Prizren region. This activity gathered forty one participants, including assembly members, municipal officials, NGO and KFOR representatives.
The Executive Director of SPRC, Mr.Xhabir Hamiti, made the official opening of the training by presenting the overall Project Objectives, activities, the rationale and relevance of the projects topic and expected outcomes. The chairperson of Assembly, Mr.Buyar Mazrek, considered the training as a welcomed professional development for the assembly members and all other officials with interest in broadening their understanding on the topic of radicalism.
The main training was delivered by the security expert, Mr.Agim Musliu, who emphasized the unique social contexts of resilient communities towards radicalization, such as Mamusha Municipality, with a very rich and diverse cultural and religious history.
Participants were introduced with the broader terms, definitions, cultural, religious, political and historical aspects of the phenomena of radicalism and extremis that can lead to terrorism, and the framework of push and pull factors to contextualize the problem and give best practices recommendations on prevention and building and sustaining a resilient community towards the radicalization risks. The main part of the training was explaining of the relevant prevention legislation in Kosovo and how the assembly members can benefit but also contribute to the integral mechanisms of this legislation to enable and facilitate its implementation in the local level. Municipal Officials were very interested for additional training and similar events and SPRC plans to respond positivity to these demands with future cooperation with Mamusha Municipality.
