BIRN published an article on September 3, 2019 titled “The repentance of the Kosovar for taking the road to Syria”. The aim of this article was to inform the public that there are Kosovar returnees that have regretted their decision to join foreign fights.

This article cites Merita Aliu’s statement when she was sent to court saying “I regret going to Syria, and I regret it ever since I came back. If I could ever turn the time back, I would never have made this mistake [that of going to Syria]”.
