On June 25, 2019, BIRN Kosova has published an article titled “the living conditions of women and kids returned from Syria”. BIRN’s research showed the mission of the Government to return 110 Kosovars from areas of armed conflicts. This had been kept secret from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Police of Kosovo, until the women and kids arrived at the Airport of Prishtina.
After the mission was completed successfully, 32 women, 74 children and 4 men were repatriated. While women and children were sent to the asylum center, the men were sent in custody. Moreover, for this research two lawyers of the returned women were interviewed, and explained the assistance these women have been receiving since they returned to Kosovo. A week after this mission, the National Coordinator Against Violent Extremism and Terrorism, Fatos Makolli, explained the details of the process of bringing back to Kosovo, these people from Syria and Iraq. Furthermore, Makolli spoke about the future plans of the government regarding their re-integration. This article was published in KALLXO.com.
